- תִּוְהָא, תִּוְו׳, תִּיוְ׳ch. sam(תוה, תווה anxiety.), 1) anxiety, terror; disgust. Targ. O. Gen. 27:33 (some ed. תְּוָהָא). Targ. Ps. 78:41, v. תְּיַתּ. 2) (of a building) threatening condition, indications of dilapidation. B. Bath.3b חזי בה ת׳ they notice signs of ruin on it. 3) mishap. B. Mets.73a כיון דהוה ביה ת׳ לאוכ׳ (not דהוי, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 300) since a mishap may befall it (and the buyer must take the risk), the transaction has not the appearance of an advance of money for a consideration (of usury, v. אַנְרָא I); Rashi: cause for regret).(Koh.
